On May 30, President Xi Jinping and Egyptian President Sisi exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Xi Jinping pointed out that Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic relations with New China. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations 70 years ago, no matter how the international and regional situation changes, the two countries have always respected each other, treated each other as equals, trusted each other, and helped each other. China-Egypt relations have become a model of friendly coexistence, unity and cooperation among developing countries, and a model of collective cooperation between China and Arab countries and China and Africa. They are making strides towards the goal of building a community with a shared future for the new era. China and Egypt are both ancient civilizations in the world and important members of the Global South. They should draw wisdom and strength from history, shoulder the mission of the times to seek peace, seek development, promote cooperation and promote justice, and inject strong impetus into building a community with a shared future for mankind.

Xi Jinping emphasized that I attach great importance to the development of China-Egypt relations and am willing to work with President Sisi to take the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as a new starting point to continue traditional friendship, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, promote China-Egypt relations to have more strategic leadership, development cohesion, and international influence, better benefit the two peoples, and contribute more to international and regional peace and development.

Sisi said that Egypt and China have stood side by side in every historical period. Over the past 70 years, under the joint leadership of the leaders of the two countries, Egypt-China relations have continued to develop. I express my appreciation for the important achievements in Egypt-China relations and look forward to working with President Xi Jinping to continue to promote more fruitful results in bilateral relations and jointly build a more stable multi-polar world that is more capable of responding to global challenges, so that all countries can share the results of comprehensive development and jointly achieve peace and security.

On the same day, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council and Egyptian Prime Minister Madbouly exchanged congratulatory messages. Li Qiang said that China is willing to work with Egypt to fully implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, accelerate the high-quality joint construction of the "Belt and Road", intensify exchanges and cooperation in various fields, promote the continuous development of China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, and better benefit the two peoples.

Madbouly said that over the past 70 years, Egypt-China relations have made great progress and bilateral cooperation has achieved unprecedented results. Egypt looks forward to continuing to strengthen cooperation with China and achieve more achievements in the fields of economy, science and technology, so as to benefit the friendly two countries and their peoples.
