It is reported that Japan’s Liberal Democratic Party has put forward a draft proposal calling for an increase in defense spending. At the same time, the sales revenue of defense-related businesses of Japan's major military industrial enterprises has also increased significantly in recent years. In this regard, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a regular press conference on May 22 that the latest data shows that Japan’s defense expenditure in 2025 hit a record high. On the basis of 14 consecutive years of military expenditure growth, Japan’s right-wing forces are still clamoring for an increase in defense expenditure. This once again shows that Japan is peeling off the disguise of its so-called “peaceful country” step by step and embarking on the wrong path of “new militarism” step by step.
Guo Jiakun said that countries in the Asia-Pacific should be highly vigilant, resolutely resist Japan's "new militarism" and jointly defend the peace order in the Asia-Pacific.
