According to the website of the Ministry of Commerce, in the first quarter of 2026, my country’s total service import and export volume was 1,822.9 billion yuan (RMB, the same below), a year-on-year increase of 2.3%. Among them, exports were 704.52 billion yuan, an increase of 11.2%; imports were 1.11838 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.6%. The service trade deficit was 413.86 billion yuan, 100.15 billion yuan smaller than the same period last year. The main characteristics are as follows:

Exports of knowledge-intensive services maintain rapid growth. In the first quarter, the import and export of knowledge-intensive services was 793.71 billion yuan, an increase of 1.6%, accounting for 43.5% of the total service import and export. Exports of knowledge-intensive services were 384.26 billion yuan, an increase of 6.1%. Among them, personal cultural and entertainment services and financial services grew the fastest, with growth rates of 25.6% and 16.1% respectively. Imports of knowledge-intensive services were 409.45 billion yuan, a decrease of 2.3%.

The export of travel services and the import of transportation services grew rapidly. In the first quarter, the export of travel services was 105.35 billion yuan, an increase of 32.3%, ranking first in the growth rate of all fields of service exports; the import of transportation services was 230.21 billion yuan, an increase of 22.8%, the fastest growth rate among the top five fields of service import scale.
