Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, April 29: On April 29, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory letter to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Green and Sustainable Development Forum.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China upholds the concept that clear waters and lush mountains are valuable assets, unswervingly follows the path of ecological priority and green development, and is a participant, contributor and leader in the construction of global ecological civilization.

Xi Jinping emphasized that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the beginning of China’s “15th Five-Year Plan”. China is willing to work with all parties to carry forward the "Shanghai Spirit", demonstrate the "SCO Responsibility", strengthen policy docking, experience exchange and project cooperation, promote the improvement of the global environmental governance system, and work together to build a clean, beautiful and sustainable world.

The forum opened in Ningbo, Zhejiang on the same day, with the theme of "Practice Global Governance Initiatives and Jointly Promote Green and Sustainable Development of the SCO". It was co-sponsored by the SCO Good-Neighborly, Friendly and Cooperation Committee, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government.
