
The world's first 10,800-car car carrier (PCTC) "Grovis Pilot" built by CSSC Guangzhou Shipyard International and CSSC Trading for South Korea's HMM Shipping was named and delivered in Nansha, Guangzhou on the 28th.
The ship has a maximum loading capacity of 10,800 vehicles, setting a new global record for similar ship capacity. It marks a new breakthrough in my country's high-end ship manufacturing capabilities and provides a "Chinese solution" for the green and low-carbon transformation of the global shipping industry.
The "Glovis Pilot" was designed by the CSSC Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute. It has a total length of 230 meters, a width of 40 meters, a design draft of 10.5 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots. It adopts an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system and meets the International Maritime Organization Tier III emission standards. It is green, environmentally friendly, energy-saving and efficient, safe and reliable.
The ship is designed with a 14-story garage deck, which can flexibly load a variety of models such as electric vehicles, hydrogen energy vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks. The maximum loading capacity of a single ship is 10,800 vehicles. Calculated based on a standard vehicle of 5 meters, the loaded vehicles are connected end to end and are more than 50 kilometers long. It is a veritable "sea giant". After delivery, the ship will be operated by South Korea's Hyundai Logistics Co., Ltd.
