4.6 million tons, a new high! Energy security is "stable" based on the annual production "report card" of China's largest ultra-deep oil field

CCTV News: On December 20, reporters learned from China Petroleum that my country's largest ultra-deep oil field, the Fumaman Oilfield, located in the hinterland of the Taklimakan Desert, has an annual oil and gas production of 4.6 million tons, setting a record high. It marks important progress in the exploration and development of my country's 1 billion-ton ultra-deep oil and gas reserve area and adds important support to my country's deep underground energy security.

Fuman Oilfield is a key project for deep underground energy security in my country. The oil area covers an area of 17,000 square kilometers. It is also the deepest and largest ultra-deep crude oil production area discovered in my country. Recently, the key production well in the oil field, Fuman 502H3, was successfully put into production. This well has a drilling depth of 8,380 meters and a daily oil production of 120 tons after it is put into production. It is one of the 47 8,000-meter deep wells drilled this year. So far, the average daily oil production of these deep well tests has reached 100 tons, demonstrating the rich potential of ultra-deep oil and gas.

Zhao Longfei, deputy manager of Fuman Project of PetroChina Tarim Oilfield Exploration and Development Research Institute, said: "In terms of engineering, this year a large number of 8,000-meter deep wells were drilled in about 100 days, and the drilling speed was significantly accelerated. In terms of geology, a large number of secondary fractures were found next to the main faults that are rich in oil and gas. This is equivalent to drilling wells in large blood vessels before, and now wells drilling in capillaries are also producing oil, achieving a double breakthrough in engineering geology."

The Tarim Oilfield, where the Fuman Oilfield is located, is an important oil and gas production base in western my country. As of December 15, the Tarim Oilfield has produced more than 20 million tons of oil and gas from ultra-deep formations this year, making it the oil field with the highest ultra-deep oil and gas production in my country.

Zhao Longfei said: "Next year we plan to continue to accelerate the pace of exploration and development into the ultra-deep layers of the desert hinterland. In 2026, 23 exploration wells and development wells have been deployed, and 6 have been drilled. Four more are planned to be drilled this month to accelerate the exploration of ultra-deep oil and gas in the desert on tens of thousands of square kilometers."
