People's Daily Beijing (Reporter Ouyang Jie) According to statistics from the Guangdong Branch of the General Administration of Customs: In the first three quarters of this year, the import and export of the nine mainland cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was 6.77 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.1% over the same period last year (the same below), accounting for 20.1% of the country's total foreign trade value. Among them, exports were 4.33 trillion yuan, an increase of 1.6%; imports were 2.44 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.9%.

Foreign trade reached a record high. In the first three quarters of this year, the import and export scale of the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area increased quarter by quarter, achieving positive year-on-year growth for nine consecutive quarters. In the third quarter, imports and exports reached 2.39 trillion yuan, an increase of 3.9%, setting a record high in the Greater Bay Area’s import and export scale in the past five years.

Accelerate the export of related products with high technical content. In the first three quarters, the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area exported 3 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 7.2%, accounting for 69.5% of the overall exports in the same period, driving overall export growth by 4.7 percentage points.

The import of manufacturing products has grown rapidly, and the demand for imports of consumer goods for people's livelihood is strong. In the first three quarters, the nine mainland cities in the Greater Bay Area imported 1.76 trillion yuan of mechanical and electrical products, an increase of 14.2%, accounting for 72.3% of the overall imports in the same period, driving overall import growth by 9.8 percentage points.
