In the first three quarters, electricity consumption in China hit a record high, reaching 7.77 trillion kilowatt hours.

CCTV News (News Broadcast): The latest data released by China’s National Energy Administration shows that in the first three quarters, the country’s electricity consumption reached 7.77 trillion kilowatt-hours, a record high, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%. Among them, the electricity consumption of the whole society increased by 2.5%, 4.9% and 6.1% year-on-year respectively in the first, second and third quarters, and the year-on-year growth rate showed a trend of rebounding quarter by quarter.

In the third quarter, the secondary industry, that is, industrial electricity consumption increased by 5.1% year-on-year, and its contribution to the growth of electricity consumption in the entire society reached 51%. Among them, high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries expanded rapidly, with total electricity consumption in the third quarter increasing by 9.5% year-on-year.

Driven by a series of national policies to promote consumption, electricity consumption in the service industry has maintained steady and rapid growth. In the third quarter, the electricity consumption of the tertiary industry increased by 8.3% year-on-year. Among them, electricity consumption in the Internet and related services industry increased by 33.8% year-on-year in the third quarter, and electricity consumption in the charging and swapping service industry increased by 49.6% year-on-year.
