Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Urges Japan to deeply reflect on its history of aggression and adhere to the path of peace
2025-10-23 source:CCTV News

On October 23, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted a regular press conference. A reporter asked about Japan's plan to increase defense spending.

Guo Jiakun said that regarding the increase in Japan’s defense expenditure, due to Japan’s history of militaristic aggression, Japan’s military security trends have always attracted great attention from its Asian neighbors and the international community. In recent years, Japan has significantly adjusted its security policies, increased its defense budget year by year, continuously relaxed restrictions on arms exports, and sought breakthrough military development. Neighbors in Asia and the international community cannot help but have strong doubts about Japan's sincerity in adhering to defense and peaceful development. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. We urge Japan to deeply reflect on its history of aggression, adhere to the path of peace, and be cautious in its words and deeds in the military and security fields to avoid further breaking the trust of its Asian neighbors and the international community.
