Ministry of Commerce: China firmly opposes Dutch interference in Nexperia operations
2025-10-16 source:CCTV News

Recently, the China Semiconductor Industry Association issued a statement stating that it opposed the local Dutch government's interference in the operations of Nexperia, a branch of Wingtech Technology. In response, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Commerce responded at a regular press conference held this afternoon.

Ministry of Commerce Spokesperson He Yongqian: China firmly opposes the Dutch side’s generalization of the concept of “national security” and direct interference in the internal affairs of enterprises through administrative means. This move by the Netherlands not only violates the spirit of contract and market principles, but will also seriously damage the business environment of the Netherlands and harm others and itself. China also noted that the relevant court documents in the Netherlands on October 14 showed that the Netherlands and the United States had communicated and coordinated on the "penetration rules", and the United States made demands to the Netherlands to replace the Chinese CEO of Nexperia and "adjust the governance structure" in order to avoid the sanctions of the "penetration rules".

Ministry of Commerce spokesperson He Yongqian said that China has clearly expressed its position on the US "penetration rules". The US move has seriously impacted the international economic and trade order and seriously undermined the security and stability of the global industrial chain and supply chain. The Dutch side's move is a clear example of the US "penetration rule" harming the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.

Ministry of Commerce Spokesperson He Yongqian: The U.S. "penetration rule" is the initiator of harming Chinese companies. We hope that the Netherlands will maintain its independence, start from maintaining Sino-Dutch economic and trade relations and maintain the stability of the global semiconductor supply chain, respect objective facts, adhere to the spirit of contract and market principles, correct wrong practices, effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese investors, and create a fair, transparent, and predictable business environment. China will take necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
