China's autumn grain harvest has passed 60%
2025-10-16 source:CCTV News

October 16th is World Food Day. The week in which World Food Day falls is also my country’s Food Security Publicity Week. The theme of this year’s Publicity Week is “Food Saving is Everyone’s Responsibility.”

The latest agricultural dispatch from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs shows that the national autumn grain harvest has exceeded 60%. Broken down by crops, rice accounts for nearly 70%, corn for 55%, and soybeans for nearly 80%.

Since the "14th Five-Year Plan", our country has implemented the national food security strategy in depth, strengthened the storage of food in the land, stored food in technology, and consolidated the foundation of food security in an all-round way. The per capita grain possession has reached 500 kilograms, which is higher than the internationally recognized per capita grain security line of 400 kilograms, achieving basic self-sufficiency in grains and absolute food ration security.
