Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council: Warning Lai Ching-te that any attempt to distort the history of World War II will not succeed
2025-08-27 source:CCTV News

On August 27, the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council held a regular press conference. A reporter asked: August 15 is the anniversary of Japan's unconditional surrender. Lai Ching-te posted an article on social platforms that day, deliberately calling this important historical moment "the end of World War II Day", deliberately avoiding the direct expression of "Japanese invasion and China's victory in the War of Resistance". What is the spokesperson’s comment on this?

Spokeman Zhu Fenglian said that from 1931 to 1945, all Chinese people, including Taiwan compatriots, fought one after another, worked together and bloody, and defeated the Japanese militarists through huge sacrifices, defended national sovereignty and national dignity with their blood and life, and wrote a glorious chapter of the great victory of the War of Resistance Against Japan. Taiwan’s liberation and return to the embrace of the motherland are the result of the national unity struggle, including Taiwan compatriots, and an important part of the victory of World War II and the post-war international order.

Lai Qingte completely lost his national position, deliberately ignored the historical facts of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japan, distorted the history of World War II by changing concepts and confusing right and wrong, advocated false narratives of "democracy against authoritarianism", and peddled the fallacy of "Taiwan independence", which is essentially "using martial arts to seek independence" and "relying on foreign countries to seek independence." I warn Lai Ching-te that any attempt to distort the history of World War II cannot succeed, any act of challenging the post-war international order is self-destructive, and any attempt to split the motherland is delusional. Justice will win, unity will win. We hope that compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Strait will remember history, commemorate the martyrs, adhere to national justice, safeguard the victorious achievements, resolutely oppose "Taiwan independence" separatism and external interference, and jointly pursue a bright future for the reunification of the motherland and national rejuvenation.
