G7 attacks and smears Hong Kong SAR police, Ministry of Foreign Affairs responds
2025-08-12 source:CCTV News

On August 11, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian answered questions from reporters.

Q: According to reports, members of the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism and its affiliated member states recently issued a statement, attacking and smearing the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region police to arrest the so-called "Hong Kong Parliament" and call this behavior a "transnational repression." What does the spokesperson have to say about this?

A: G7 member states and relevant Western countries and institutions have made remarks about the law enforcement actions of the Hong Kong SAR government, and China expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition.

The Hong Kong police have taken law enforcement actions against overseas anti-China and Hong Kong rioters in accordance with the Hong Kong National Security Law and the Hong Kong National Security Ordinance, which is in line with international law and international common practices, and is reasonable, legal and legitimate. The accusations of the so-called "transnational repression" by the SAR police are purely nonsense. Some countries abuse "long-arm jurisdiction" and illegal unilateral sanctions, but attack and smear the legitimate law enforcement behavior of the SAR police, fully exposing their hypocritical double standards.

I would like to emphasize again that the Chinese central government firmly supports the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region police in accordance with the law to take law enforcement actions against anti-China and Hong Kong-disrupting elements and organizations fleeing overseas, defend national security and ensure long-term stability in Hong Kong. We urge relevant countries and institutions to stop supporting anti-China and Hong Kong rioters and stop interfering in China's internal affairs.
