The reporter learned from China Railway Nanning Bureau Group Co., Ltd. that in the first seven months of this year, the Western Land-Sea New Corridor train transported a total of 872,000 standard containers of goods, an increase of 75.3% year-on-year. Among them, the 800,000 standard container mark exceeded 130 days earlier than last year. Relying on the increasingly perfect logistics network and railway transportation, such as efficient and low comprehensive costs, more and more Chinese automobile companies are taking advantage of this. What is even more breakthrough is that the soda ash chemicals intermodal transport train first launched by Inner Mongolia on July 30 has officially "connected" with the global trade and logistics channel, and goods in the western region arrived at domestic and foreign markets at a faster speed and lower cost, injecting vitality into regional economic development.
From the continuous increase in transportation demand of the new Western Land-Sea Corridor, the infrastructure and operational efficiency of the passage have also been further improved. The first phase of the construction of the Mahuang Station, which undertakes more than 90% of the railway-sea intermodal transport goods on Beibu Gulf Port, has been completed. The 14 tracks in the station have begun to take shape, and the delivery capacity has been increased by 25%, providing strong guarantees for cargo turnover.
According to Wei Wenkang, the stationmaster of Qinzhou Port East Station of Guangxi Coastal Railway Company of the National Railway Nanning Bureau, in view of the particularity of new energy vehicle transportation, the railway department has optimized the operating process, connected with loading and unloading units to send unloading personnel, reducing the unloading time of car unloading from 30 hours per train to 10 hours, achieving efficient connection between the three links of "arrival, alignment, and unloading" of new energy vehicles.
As of the end of July 2025, the freight transportation category of the Western Land-Sea New Passage Freight Train has expanded to 1,291 types, covering dozens of major categories such as electronic products, complete vehicles and parts, machinery, and food; it radiates to 162 stations in 18 provinces, 74 cities and 162 stations in 18 provinces and 771 ports in 127 countries and regions internationally, becoming a key link connecting China's western region with the global trade market.
