The reporter learned from the press conference of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security that as of the end of June, the number of people participating in basic pension, unemployment and work-related injury insurance in the country was 1.071 billion, 245 million and 300 million, respectively, with a steady increase year-on-year.
In the first half of the year, the total income of the three social insurance funds was 4.53 trillion yuan and the total expenditure was 3.89 trillion yuan. The cumulative balance at the end of June was 9.83 trillion yuan, and the fund operation was generally stable; the basic pension insurance for enterprise employees was coordinated and steadily promoted nationwide, and the adjustment funds were allocated in the first half of the year to support the payment of pensions in provinces in difficult situations; a total of 14.79 million people in the minimum living allowance, extremely poor people and other poor groups paid urban and rural residents' pension insurance premiums, and 76.8 billion yuan of unemployment insurance premiums and basic medical insurance (including maternity insurance) fees were paid on behalf of unemployed people.
As of the end of June, the investment and operation scale of the pension insurance fund was 2.55 trillion yuan. The functions of the social security card are further expanded. The number of cardholders nationwide reached 1.39 billion, covering 98.9% of the population, of which 1.097 billion were received for electronic social security cards, covering 77.9% of the population.
