Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, January 16 (Reporters Wen Jinghua and Xu Penghang) The reporter learned from the National Health Insurance Administration on the 16th that 81 coordinated areas in 11 provinces in my country have opened medical insurance wallets, which can provide cross-provincial mutual assistance for personal accounts. The National Health Insurance Administration will make every effort to promote the opening of other regions and launch functions such as changes in the use of medical insurance wallets in the near future.
These 11 provinces that have opened medical insurance wallets are Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Shandong, Henan, Hubei, Chongqing, Sichuan, Guizhou, Tibet, and Gansu. Among them, four provincial medical insurance departments, namely Hebei, Tibet, Anhui and Henan, have fully opened medical insurance wallets within the province (region).
On December 2, 2024, the National Medical Insurance Administration officially launched the national medical insurance personal account cross-provincial mutual assistance. The employee medical insurance personal account can be used across provinces to pay resident medical insurance and pay medical expenses for their close relatives.
Medical insurance wallet transfer is a way to achieve mutual assistance in personal accounts of close relatives’ medical insurance. Using the medical insurance wallet transfer function, individuals can transfer funds from their personal medical insurance account or medical insurance wallet to the medical insurance wallet of close relatives for their medical insurance for settlement of medical treatment and personal payment of resident medical insurance.
