On the afternoon of January 16, the Information Office of the People's Government of the Tibet Autonomous Region held a press conference on the 6.8-magnitude earthquake in Shigatse Dingri, Tibet Autonomous Region. Ram Zhuoma, member of the Party Leadership Group and Deputy Director of the Civil Affairs Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region, introduced the donation of funds and materials for earthquake relief and disaster relief.
The meeting introduced that as of 18:00 on January 15, a total of 1.637 billion yuan of donations from all walks of life were received, of which 1.531 billion yuan of funds and 106 million yuan of materials were mainly used for the transfer and resettlement of people in disaster areas, basic living security, etc.
The Civil Affairs Department of the Tibet Autonomous Region has issued 6.633 million yuan of central financial assistance subsidies to Dingri County in advance, and the basic lives of 1,970 people in need in the disaster area have been guaranteed.
