CCTV News: According to the website of the National Energy Administration, on April 28, the National Energy Administration held a regular press conference. Xu Jilin, deputy director of the Department of Energy Conservation and Science and Technology Equipment, introduced at the meeting that my country attaches great importance to the development of the hydrogen energy industry. By strengthening top-level design, formulating industrial policies, and actively promoting hydrogen energy technology innovation, all regions have also explored the development of the hydrogen energy industry and project implementation models in an orderly manner. As of the end of 2024, more than 560 special hydrogen energy policies have been issued across the country, and 22 provincial administrative regions have written hydrogen energy into government work reports, and promoted the layout of the hydrogen energy industry according to local conditions.

The traditional industrial foundation and energy resource endowment in the Three Norths region have good resources, laying a good foundation for the implementation and promotion of hydrogen energy projects. In 2024, the national hydrogen production exceeded 36.5 million tons, accounting for more than 50% of the three northern regions. Inner Mongolia, Shanxi, Shaanxi, Ningxia and other regions all ranked high in hydrogen production. As of the end of 2024, more than 600 renewable energy electrolytic hydrogen production projects have been planned and built across the country, of which more than 150 have been built and have a completed production capacity of about 125,000 tons/year, mainly distributed in the northwest and North China regions, accounting for nearly 90% of the country’s completed production capacity. At the same time, a number of typical demonstration projects have been completed and implemented, playing a good demonstration role. Kuqa, Xinjiang has built a 20,000-ton/year renewable energy hydrogen production project. The Ningxia Ningdong Carbon Emission Reduction Demonstration Zone has been successfully incorporated into the coal-to-synthetic ammonia device, and the entire process of renewable hydrogen production-storage-transportation-utilization is gradually completed to realize the multi-scenario coupling application of hydrogen energy.

Relying on the demonstration application of fuel cell vehicles and the work of "Hydrogen entering ten thousand families", the eastern region actively deploys technology research and development and industrial applications, and gradually builds a hydrogen energy industry cluster with integrated development of industry, education, research and application, coexistence of large, medium and small enterprises, relatively complete industrial chain, and strong innovation capabilities. At the same time, new technologies, new scenarios and new models such as seawater hydrogen production, liquid hydrogen factories, and trans-ocean trade are accelerating their exploration in relevant regions to support the integrated development of the hydrogen energy industry chain, supply chain, and innovation chain.

In the next step, the National Energy Administration will work with relevant departments to actively play the role of the inter-ministerial coordination mechanism for the development of the hydrogen energy industry, promote local governments to scientifically and rationally arrange the hydrogen energy industry in accordance with their own basic conditions, and achieve healthy and orderly development of the industry.
