CCTV News: According to the WeChat official account of the State Railway Administration, the national railway passenger volume and freight volume increased steadily from January to December 2024, both hitting record highs in the same period.
——Pressure transportation. From January to December, the national railway passenger volume reached 4.312 billion, an increase of 11.9% year-on-year, and the annual passenger volume exceeded the 4.3 billion mark for the first time. Among them, the passenger volume of EMU was 3.272 billion, accounting for 75.9% of the national railway passenger volume, an increase of 12.9% year-on-year; the passenger turnover reached 1579.91 billion man-kilometers, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year, of which the passenger turnover of EMU was 1084.549 billion man-kilometers, an increase of 10.3% year-on-year.
In December, the national railway passenger volume reached 297 million, an increase of 2.6% year-on-year; the passenger turnover volume reached 95.849 billion passenger kilometers, basically the same as the same year-on-year.
——Freight. From January to December, the national railway freight volume was 5.175 billion tons, an increase of 2.8% year-on-year; the freight turnover volume was 3586.19 billion tons-kilometers. Among them, the national railway freight transport volume was 3.985 billion tons, an increase of 1.9% year-on-year; the national railway freight turnover was 3258.063 billion tons-kilometers.
In December, the national railway freight transmission volume was 459 million tons, an increase of 5.4% year-on-year; the freight turnover volume was 325.903 billion tons-kilometers, an increase of 3.3% year-on-year. Among them, the national railway freight volume was 354 million tons, an increase of 3.8% year-on-year; the freight turnover volume was 299.228 billion tons-kilometers, an increase of 5.9% year-on-year.
According to statistics, from January to December 2024, the national railway fixed asset investment reached 850.6 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 11.3%, 3,113.4 kilometers of new railway lines were put into production, 2,687.2 kilometers of railway double-tracks were put into production, and 3,935.8 kilometers of electrified railways were put into production, and the construction of a modern railway infrastructure system was continued to be promoted.
