In terms of atmospheric environment, the average concentration of PM2.5 in prefecture-level and above cities in 2024 was 29.3 micrograms/cubic meter, a year-on-year decrease of 2.7%, and has steadily met the standards for five consecutive years. The proportion of excellent days in the country reached 87.2%, an increase of 1.7 percentage points year-on-year; the proportion of heavy pollution days was 0.9%, a decrease of 0.7 percentage points year-on-year.
In terms of water ecological environment, the proportion of excellent water quality sections in the country reached 90.4%, exceeding 90% for the first time, an increase of 1 percentage point year-on-year. The proportion of excellent water quality in nearshore waters was 83.7%, reaching the goals of the "14th Five-Year Plan" ahead of schedule. The main stream of the Yangtze River has remained stable at Class II for five consecutive years and the main stream of the Yellow River has been in Class II for three consecutive years.
2025 is the year when the 14th Five-Year Plan is concluded. A relevant official from the Ministry of Ecology and Environment said that the high-quality completion of the ecological and environmental protection goals and tasks of the "14th Five-Year Plan" is related to the overall construction of a beautiful China and the overall economic and social development. We must comprehensively compare the requirements of high-quality finalization, deeply grasp the opportunities and challenges we face, correctly use effective strategies and methods, focus on key areas to focus on key areas to ensure the successful conclusion of the "14th Five-Year Plan".
