At around 8:45 on March 9, as the 57661 test vehicle drove out of Chongqing East Station, it marked the start of joint debugging and testing of the newly built Chongqing East to Qianjiang section of the Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway (hereinafter referred to as the Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway Chongqing section), entering the critical stage of project acceptance, laying a solid foundation for the early opening of the entire line.
The Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Xiaxia High-speed Railway is an important part of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" Zhongyuxia Channel in the national medium- and long-term railway network planning. It leads from Chongqing Station and passes through Yuzhong, Nan'an, Banan, Nanchuan, Wulong, Pengshui and other districts and counties, and ends in Qianjiang District, Chongqing. The designed speed is 350 kilometers per hour. The joint debugging and testing section of Chongqing East to Qianjiang. The new main line is about 250 kilometers long. There are 7 stations on the entire line, including 1 renovated (Qianjiang Station) and 6 new ones (Chongqing East, Banan, Nanchuan North, Shuijiangxi, Wulongnan, and Pengshui West Station).
It is understood that the Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Xiaxi High-speed Railway started construction in May 2020, track laying began on October 9, 2024, and the track laying of the main line of the entire line was completed on December 15, and the joint debugging and testing stage was entered on March 9, 2025.
After the Chongqing section of the Chongqing-Xiamen High-speed Railway is completed and opened to traffic, the fastest time for train travel from Chongqing to Qianjiang District will be shortened from the current 4 hours to within 1 hour. In order to implement the Yangtze River Economic Belt development strategy, improve the layout of the high-speed railway network, and accelerate the formation of the main high-speed railway channel from Chongqing to Xiamen, and drive the economic and social development of the areas along the route.
