Chen Yajun, Deputy Secretary-General of the National Development and Reform Commission, Chen Xinwu, member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, Li Wenqing, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province, and Cao Junjie, member of the Standing Committee of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle, introduced the relevant situation in the past five years of construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing Twin Cities Economic Circle and answered reporters' questions.

Chen Xinwu, member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Executive Vice Mayor, introduced that over the past seven years, with the strong support of relevant state ministries and commissions, Chongqing, as the logistics and operation organization center of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor, has worked with the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities along the route to promote the construction of the Western Land-Sea New Corridor to continue to deepen and implement.

Continuously improve the channel network. As of the end of 2024, the regular railway-sea intermodal trains of the new Western Land-Sea Passage have reached 15,000, the international railway intermodal trains are close to 1,900, and cross-border highway buses exceeding 22,000, reaching 548 ports in 126 countries and regions around the world, expanding the channel for "north goods go south", breaking the pattern of "west goods go east".

Vigorally develop channel economy. Promote the integration of channels with logistics, economy, trade and industry, and accelerate the integration into the domestic and international dual circulation. By the end of 2024, a total of 826,000 standard containers of goods have been transported, with a value of more than 140 billion yuan, and the number of goods has increased from more than 80 at the beginning to more than 1,160. In particular, with the help of the new Western Land-Sea Corridor, the "Chongqing vehicles go overseas", and the automobiles are exported to 164 countries and regions around the world. From January to November 2024, Chongqing exported 435,000 vehicles, an increase of more than 30%, of which 52,000 new energy vehicles were exported, an increase of 1.5 times.

Continue to promote reform and innovation. In recent years, we have continued to promote channel system innovation and digital empowerment, explore the "one order system" and "one box system" of railway-sea transport, and realize the "one-time commission, one-time payment" and "no unboxing throughout the process", which not only saves time, but also reduces losses. The comprehensive logistics cost of the channel has dropped by more than 10% compared with the beginning of the launch. Currently, by taking the channel train, Southeast Asian fruits can be placed on the mainland market within a few days, and the price is much lower than before.

Creating a new highland for reform and opening up is an important mission shouldered by Sichuan and Chongqing provinces and cities. Together with Sichuan, we will closely follow the strategic positioning of "building an inland open comprehensive hub" and "building a strategic highland to the west" given by General Secretary Xi Jinping, and work together to promote the "hard connectivity" of infrastructure in the Western Land-Sea New Channel and the "soft connectivity" of comprehensive services, make the China-Europe Express (Chengdu and Chongqing) brand bigger and stronger, jointly build a multimodal transport collection and distribution system, deepen the demonstration of coordinated opening of the Sichuan-Chongqing Free Trade Pilot Zone, and drive the western region to accelerate high-level opening.
