China-Thailand-Myanmar cooperates to eradicate the cancer of online gambling and crack down on electronic fraud and go deeper and more practical

CCTV News: On February 17, a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that he would work with Thailand and Myanmar to block criminals from committing crimes in relevant countries and jointly eliminate the cancer of online gambling and electronic fraud.

On February 17, representatives of Myanmar, China and Thailand held tripartite talks in Miaowadi to quickly advance the transfer of foreign personnel. The talks discussed the implementation of the system of cracking down on telecommunications fraud, eradicating telecommunications fraud crime dens in the Miaowadi area, and transferring the people involved to relevant countries.

Also on the 17th, the news information team of the Myanmar State Administration Commission issued a message saying that the Myanmar authorities seized foreign personnel who entered the country illegally in the Miaowadi-Shuigou Valley and KK Park in Karen State.

From January 30 to February 17, 2025, Myanmar seized a total of 1,303 foreign personnel, most of whom were involved in illegal acts of online gambling. A joint working group composed of senior officials from Myanmar, China and Thailand is conducting identity identification and detailed investigations on illegal incoming personnel, and will accelerate the repatriation and transfer work. Recently, Myanmar has repatriated some illegal entry personnel, and the remaining personnel are being transferred to their country of origin as soon as possible in accordance with relevant legal provisions.

In order to strengthen cross-border law enforcement cooperation, the Thai police have established a special platform to share intelligence with embassies of various countries, including key information such as the IP addresses of fraud gangs.

The Chinese Embassy in Thailand announced on the evening of the 17th that Thailand Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Putan and Foreign Minister Mali recently stated that Thailand attach great importance to combating transnational crimes such as online gambling and electronic fraud and is willing to further strengthen cooperation with China.
