Ministry of Foreign Affairs: There is no way out for protectionism, no winner in trade wars and tariff wars
2025-05-02 source:CCTV News

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun presided over the regular press conference held today (February 18).

Regarding reports that US President Trump said that he would impose tariffs on foreign automobile imports in April, Guo Jiakun said that China has always believed that there is no way out for protectionism, and there is no winner in the trade war and tariff war, which has become a general consensus in the international community. The US should also realize that what the international community needs is not to impose tariffs, but to resolve their respective concerns on the basis of mutual respect through equal consultations. China will continue to take necessary measures to firmly safeguard its legitimate rights and interests.
