Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, February 18 (Reporter Xiong Feng) The reporter learned from the Ministry of Public Security on the 18th that in 2024, the public security organs will resolutely build a solid coastal security line and make every effort to maintain coastal security and stability. A total of more than 14,000 cases of various maritime crimes have been solved throughout the year, and more than 20,000 hidden dangers of coastal risks have been investigated and resolved.

The public security organs in coastal areas, together with relevant departments, continue to strengthen the crackdown and rectification of illegal and criminal activities involving seas such as illegal fishing, smuggling, and smuggling, and supervise a number of major cases to promptly eliminate sea-related security risks. In response to the problem of illegal fishing at sea, from May to October 2024, the public security organs, together with the fishery and fishery administration, coast guard and other departments, organized special law enforcement actions, and solved 474 criminal cases involving fishing and seized more than 1,700 tons of fishing catches.

The public security organs insist on synchronizing management and service, combining visits and publicity, and carried out major investigations and rectification of risks and hidden dangers around key marine-related units such as ports, docks, coastlines, islands and port and shipping enterprises. More than 6,100 risks and hidden dangers were discovered and rectified, and more than 1,700 rectification notices were issued to deal with risks and hidden dangers in the bud.

In combination with the characteristics of my country's long and tortuous coastline, dense islands and harbors, and many easy-to-land areas with few people along the coast, the public security organs rely on new technologies to build a public security smart coastal defense system and create an "intelligent perception circle" that integrates ports, coastlines, waterways and islands. At the same time, as one of the measures for public security organs to serve and ensure high-quality development, the public security organs rely on the "Safe Going to the Sea" WeChat mini program to integrate ship registration, port entry and exit reporting, rights protection reporting, notification and announcement, which greatly improves the efficiency of ship registration and the safety awareness of fishermen, and provides strong support for maritime safety.

The public security organs also actively cooperate with local maritime search and rescue centers and relevant maritime departments to do a good job in maritime search and rescue emergency response. In 2024, more than 16,000 police officers were dispatched, 401 maritime search and rescue operations were participated in 80 ships, and 1,229 rescue personnel were rescued, effectively ensuring the safety of people's lives.
