The latest data from the China Light Industry Federation shows that in 2024, large-scale light industry enterprises achieved operating income of 23 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%. The profit was achieved at 1.5 trillion yuan, an increase of 8.3% year-on-year. Among the 91 major light industrial products counted by the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of 55 products has increased. Among them, thanks to the policy of exchanging consumer goods, the production of household washing machines, refrigerators and other products has grown rapidly.
As a series of policies to expand domestic demand and promote consumption have been put into effect, the vitality of the light industry market has gradually increased. In 2024, the retail sales of 11 categories of light industry commodities were nearly 8 trillion yuan, an increase of 5.0% year-on-year. Among them, household appliances, audio and video equipment, etc. have maintained a rapid growth trend for four consecutive months.
In addition, in the past year, the scale of exports of light industrial commodities has continued to expand, with the export volume of the entire industry increasing by 3.6% year-on-year. Among the 21 major industries, exports in 13 industries increased year-on-year, and foreign trade exports remained resilient.
