The reporter came to the construction site of the urban drainage pipeline renovation and expansion project in Yubei District, Chongqing. With the support of funds such as super-long-term special treasury bonds, after the resumption of work during the Spring Festival, urban renewal projects like this have started in full swing, showing "acceleration". According to the on-site construction person, this is a newly built rainwater and sewage pipeline based on the original foundation. It has a total length of 186.5 meters and a burial depth of 6 meters, which has improved the collection capacity of urban domestic sewage and reduced the mixed flow of rainwater and sewage.

Chongqing will build and renovate 2,500 kilometers of urban drainage pipelines like this this year. In Jiangbei District, Chongqing, a pipeline inspection robot is patrolling the drainage pipeline. According to relevant staff, the inspection screen of the pipeline robot is transmitted back to the ground in real time, which is convenient for formulating subsequent construction or repair plans.

The robot inspection found that a 15-meter pipeline needs repair, but the repair method is also different from the past. There is no need to dig the ground, and there is no need for workers to go down the well. It only needs to put a new gray pipe lining material into the drainage pipe, and the robot will pull this material to the damaged point of the pipe, and repair the leak point without replacing the original pipe.

A routine robot inspection is underway in the underground comprehensive pipeline corridor that has completed intelligent transformation in the first section of Chongqing High-tech Zone. The inspection targets are various types of pipelines such as water supply, communications, and electricity laid in the pipeline corridor. Liu Jin, deputy director of the pipeline center of Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, said that the automatic inspection robot is equipped with a variety of AI intelligent algorithms, such as the intelligent algorithm for crack identification and detection of water supply networks. During the inspection, it can automatically analyze whether there is a risk of cracks in the water supply network and send relevant situations to the monitoring center.

The pipeline corridor is distributed with a large number of temperature and humidity and other sensors, and is connected to the local digital city operation and governance center. At present, 44 kilometers of underground comprehensive pipeline corridors in Chongqing have achieved intelligent operation all-weather. This year, Chongqing will also build a 38-kilometer underground comprehensive pipeline corridor. Hu Wenqi, deputy director of the Urban Living Environment Construction Department of Chongqing Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, said that Chongqing will also accelerate the construction of digital pipelines and fully realize the digital twinning of underground pipelines in densely populated areas of the central urban area by the end of the year. In 2025, Chongqing will launch physical examinations and renovation of urban pipelines, and it is expected that 11,000 kilometers of various pipelines will be renewed and renovated by the end of 2027.

In addition to Chongqing, most provinces, regions and municipalities in the country have clearly put forward the task goals for the construction and renovation of underground pipeline networks and comprehensive pipeline corridors. In 2025, Beijing will renovate 1,000 kilometers of old pipelines, and Shanghai will complete the renovation of 130 kilometers of overhead lines into the ground and pole boxes. In addition, Heilongjiang, Liaoning, Shandong, Henan, Inner Mongolia, Yunnan, Guizhou and other places have also put forward specific transformation goals.
