CCTV News: According to the Ministry of Education’s website, recently, the Ministry of Education issued 758 newly revised (formed) vocational education professional teaching standards (hereinafter referred to as the new standards).
The professional teaching standards for vocational education are an important part of the national teaching standards system for vocational education and are the basic document for carrying out professional teaching. The new standard includes 11 elements, including overview, major name (professional code), basic admission requirements, basic study years, career orientation, training goals, training specifications, curriculum settings and time arrangements, faculty, teaching conditions, quality assurance and graduation requirements.
Compared with the original standards, the new standards systematically design teaching requirements for secondary vocational, higher vocational college and vocational undergraduates, strengthen the cultivation of comprehensive vocational quality and action capabilities, promote professional teaching to keep pace with industrial and technological development, and promote digitalization and artificial intelligence to empower teaching.
At the same time, the new standard has made comprehensive provisions on the basic teaching requirements such as professional setting, curriculum system, textbook resources, internship training, teacher guarantee, quality evaluation, etc., and also left room for schools to set up courses and carry out talent training based on regional and industry actual conditions, as well as school positioning and talent training needs.
The new standard covers 52.9% of the 1434 majors in the "Vocational Education Major Catalog", involving 19 major categories and 90 major categories. Among them, there are 223 secondary vocational standards, 471 higher vocational college standards, 64 vocational undergraduate standards; 52 related professional standards in the primary industry, 292 related professional standards in the secondary industry, and 414 related professional standards in the tertiary industry. According to the national vocational education major distribution data in 2024, the new standard covers more than 101,000 professional points, accounting for 82.1% of the total number of professional distribution points.
In order to do a good job in revision (formulation), the Ministry of Education organized and coordinated more than 9,500 experts from more than 4,600 units including relevant vocational schools, general universities, industry enterprises, teaching and research institutions, expert organizations, academic groups, etc., and solicited opinions from nearly 100 relevant industry authorities, industry associations, local education administrative departments, and research institutions, which took more than three years to complete.
In the next step, the Ministry of Education will organize local education administrative departments, the National Industry Vocational Education Teaching Guidance Committee, the Ministry of Education Vocational College Teaching (Education) Steering Committee, etc. to do a good job in publicity, promotion and implementation of new standards. At the same time, guide all vocational schools to conscientiously implement the new standards, give full play to the leading role of the standards, revise the talent training plan for corresponding majors, continuously improve the quality of talent training for vocational education, and enhance the adaptability of talent training.
