CCTV News: During the Spring Festival holiday, many people watch TV and play with their mobile phones for a long time and use their eyes too much. The ophthalmology clinic has recently received many patients, some of whom often lie on their side to look at their mobile phones, but they don’t know that this seemingly comfortable posture is more likely to lead to vision loss.
In Wuhan, Hubei, Ms. Cai, who is already myopic, found that she also had blurred symptoms when she was wearing glasses recently. After examination, Ms. Cai not only increased myopia, but also had a difference of 400 degrees in the two eyes.

Li Xinyu, chief physician of the Eye Refractive Center of Tongji Hospital Affiliated to Tongji Medical College of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, said: "She has a very big difference in refractive index between the two eyes. She has 800 degrees of myopia in her right eye and only 400 degrees of myopia in her left eye. She also described that the two myopia degrees were similar when she was young. She was not used to using her eyes later. She liked to tilt her head to read books and look at her mobile phone."
The medical staff introduced that the difference between myopia in Ms. Cai's eyes was 400 degrees. In addition to some congenital factors, another important reason was to lie down and brush her mobile phone.

Li Xinyu said: "When lying on his side, the eye below may be closer to the book or closer to the phone, so it needs to be adjusted more, which is more likely to cause eye fatigue and ciliary muscle spasms, which may lead to myopia development faster. On the contrary, the other eye is always relaxing, so its opposite degree does not increase."

Medical staff remind that there are many wrong eye habits that are easy to ignore in life, such as looking at your mobile phone while walking and riding a car, which will lead to further decline in vision.

Zhang Lixia, chief physician of the Ophthalmology Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, said: "Our eyes are a very precise camera, including cornea, lens, and many muscles in the eyes that are coordinating and moving together. In a moving environment, the various organs and tissues in these eyes will increase their movement to capture this information, which will increase the load, which means that its visual burden will increase. After aggravation, it may cause visual fatigue, and over time it will cause myopia to deepen."
