Hou Yahui, director of the General Crime Procuratorate of the Supreme People's Procuratorate, introduced in an interview on February 10 that in the past year, the general crime procuratorate has insisted on punishing criminal gangs and evil crimes at a high pressure. From January to November 2024, a total of 921 crimes involving gangs and evil crimes were arrested in total, and 2,654 people were prosecuted in 1,768 crimes involving gangs and evil crimes were prosecuted in 9,867 people. The number of cases handled decreased year-on-year, and the social security situation continued to improve.
"We insist on fighting early and small, fighting when it appears, and fighting accurately and practically. We carry out research and similar case guidance in key areas such as rural grassroots construction and engineering construction, and issue typical cases to effectively deter crimes." Hou Yahui introduced that the procuratorate focuses on key areas to strengthen source governance and handling major and complex cases. It also established a national normalized expert talent pool for combating gangs and eliminating evil, promotes the construction of a normalized talent system for combating gangs and eliminating evil, and improves the level of standardized case handling.
