CCTV News: On February 7, the 9th Asian Winter Conference was grandly opened in Harbin. More than 1,000 athletes from 34 Asian countries and regions signed up to participate, making it the largest number of participating countries, regions and athletes.
As of now, the Asian Winter Games have been held in 9 sessions, and the first Asian Winter Games was held in Sapporo, Japan in 1986. my country has held three Asian Winter Games, namely the third Asian Winter Games held in Harbin in 1996, the sixth Asian Winter Games held in Changchun in 2007, and this Asian Winter Games. Harbin has also become the first city in my country to hold two Asian Winter Games.
For this year's Asian Winter Games, 31% of the sub-events entered the Asian Winter Games for the first time. Although the Asian Winter Games are relatively small in size, their project settings cover most Winter Olympics events.
In recent years, my country has continuously consolidated its ice and snow sports talent reserves and strengthened scientific preparation and training. After the Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, my country won 8 World Championship gold medals and 45 World Cup gold medals in ice and snow sports, and ice and snow events gradually showed a new pattern of balanced development.
