On October 27, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun hosted a regular press conference. A reporter asked about the security reminder recently issued by the Chinese Embassy in the UK to remind Chinese citizens to pay attention to British entry and exit inspections.
In this regard, Guo Jiakun said that recently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in the UK have received multiple reports of Chinese citizens being detained and interrogated by British border law enforcement officers for long periods of time, and their mobile phones and other electronic devices being seized. China expresses strong dissatisfaction and serious concern over the arbitrary and excessive law enforcement behavior of the British police. It has lodged stern representations with the British side and will make every effort to safeguard the personal safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens. We remind Chinese citizens who plan to go to the UK to carefully read the tips issued by the Embassy in the UK to avoid inconvenience and losses.
