China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Fu Cong spoke at the Security Council public meeting on "Cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union" on the 6th, urging the international community to continue to support the peace and development of African countries.

Fu Cong said that Africa is becoming an important pole with global influence. The partnership between the United Nations and the African Union is a model of multilateral cooperation and has played an important role in promoting peace, stability and development in Africa. At present, the international situation is intertwined with chaos, geopolitical conflicts continue to prolong, the development gap continues to widen, and global challenges emerge one after another.African countries need the continued support of the United Nations and the international community in realizing "silencing the guns" and exploring a modernization path that suits their own national conditions. He made three propositions in this regard.

First, politically resolve hot issues and jointly promote peace and stability in Africa. The international community should support the African way of resolving African issues, promote African countries to practice a common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security concept, and resolve differences through dialogue and consultation. It is necessary to help African countries enhance their independent security capabilities and increase financial support for the African Union's independent peace operations. We must fully respect the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of African countries and play a constructive role in promoting regional stability, mutual trust and cooperation.

Second, increase investment in Africa’s development and help Africa prosper and revitalize. We must always put development at the center of cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union, increase investment in key areas such as poverty reduction, food security, energy transition, education and medical care, employment and people's livelihood, and eradicate the soil that breeds conflicts from the source.Developed countries should earnestly honor their commitments on development financing and climate finance, and stop inappropriate practices such as divestment of capital and supply cuts.It is necessary to help African countries strengthen artificial intelligence capacity building, bridge the digital intelligence gap, and help Africa accelerate sustainable development.

Third, reform and improve global governance and support Africa’s self-reliance.China has always maintained that the historical injustice suffered by Africa must be corrected and Africa's representation and voice in international affairs must be enhanced. It is necessary to reform and improve the international financial architecture to better reflect changes in the world economic landscape. It is necessary to eliminate the negative impact of the legacy of colonialism on Africa, oppose interference in internal affairs, indiscriminate sanctions, and plunder of resources, safeguard international rule of law, fairness and justice, and promote the development of the global governance system in a more fair and reasonable direction.

Fu Cong said that this year marks the 70th anniversary of the official launch of diplomatic relations between China and African countries.Over the past 70 years, no matter how the international situation changes, China has always regarded Africa as a diplomatic priority and has always stood firmly with African countries.Since the beginning of this year, China has fully implemented zero-tariff measures for all African countries that have diplomatic relations with China, and has continued to take new steps in building an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.China is willing to continue to work with all parties to take practical actions to support the strengthening of cooperation between the United Nations and the African Union and help Africa better achieve peace and development.
