Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, May 28: On May 28, President Xi Jinping and President Simons of Suriname exchanged congratulatory messages to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Xi Jinping pointed out that the friendship between China and the Soviet Union has a long history and will become stronger with time. For half a century, the two sides have always respected each other and treated each other as equals, firmly supported each other on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, continued to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and brought tangible benefits to the two peoples. I attach great importance to the development of China-Sudan relations and am willing to work with President Simons to take the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries as a new starting point to enhance strategic mutual trust, continue traditional friendship, promote practical cooperation in various fields to achieve more results, and jointly write a new chapter of China-Sudan strategic cooperative partnership.
Simmons said that over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, Sudan-China relations have continued to develop in depth. The friendship between the two countries is solid and profound, and strategic cooperation has become increasingly closer. I greatly value the fruitful results of cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Looking forward to the next 50 years, I hope that the two sides will further enhance unity, deepen and expand cooperation, and realize the common vision of prosperity and development.
